Zoom Integration new functionality

Zoom Integration

The Zoom integration provides a pathway for users to engage in their active interviews via Zoom while populating their Glidr Interview card. This allows users to optimize the way they take interviews and make it easier to collect evidence for their Ideas and Hypotheses. The integration also allows for linking video and transcription from Zoom.

The problem(s)

Capturing evidence is a very manual and time consuming process, and represents one of the biggest pain points of our users.  Users had to manually enter a lot of data, and take extra steps to fully fill out an Interview card.

The primary form of evidence in Glidr are Interviews. After conducting a full competitive analysis, we decided to put the option of integrating Zoom in the public portal to engage with our customers and get feedback.

How might we provide an easier way to connect the actual interview and interview process with the evidence data type in the app?

Proposed solution(s)

The evidence we collected suggested that our users would like an easier way to record or save the conversations while they are having the interview. We decided to design the Zoom integration since it is a good way to facilitate the dialogues and also record them, allowing everyone to collect more accurate evidence.

The first idea was to simply integrate Zoom within our app, but after another full competitive analysis was conducted. We were able to find some other tips from users and other platforms which helped us find the right match. That's when we decided to design an app for the Zoom Marketplace App Store. Following Glidr consistency and style, we went for a design where users are able to conduct interviews with a simple one step process, having their own live notes to capture the main insights at the right moment and without losing focus on the interview itself.

Solving the problem

We got some feedback and conducted interviews from our users who said that they liked the idea since it would significantly help them in their process.

By integrating with Zoom, users can now conduct their interviews while taking live notes and automatically attach their transcripts and audio recordings.

The Challenge

During ideation we went through a few design concepts.

The pain point was the lack of knowledge of the possibilities and potential with the Zoom App store, since their App Store was in a closed beta, we had no access to the documentation to know what we could do. Everything that was designed was based off of the competitive analysis of other Zoom Marketplace Apps that had already been released within their closed beta process.

What I learned

In this process it was very important to start the project having in mind the main user’s needs that we had. Empathizing with them and understanding the problem was very valuable to know which direction to take and how to conduct our research. I also realized that when developing an integration with a third party that does not provide documentation, we can understand a lot of the possibilities by conducting an in-depth competitive analysis.

My role

I was the sole UX/UI designer for a seven year old company with customers around the world including  government, top universities, enterprise and startups. I was responsible for the project, while collaborating with the rest of the team on ideation.
